M. Denise Stanford
Ms. Stanford has practiced law with the firm since 1990. Her primary practice area is administrative and regulatory law. She practices in the areas of licensing, disciplinary proceedings, professional conduct, professional discipline, professional licensing, professional licensing regulation, healthcare licensing, healthcare law, civil and appellate practice and professional liability.
Ms. Stanford represents clients before various state agencies, including occupational licensing agencies and boards, the Rules Review Commission, and the Department of Insurance. She represents the North Carolina Licensing Board for General Contractors and also serves as advisory counsel of the North Carolina Veterinary Medical Board and the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors. Ms. Stanford represented the North Carolina State Board of Dental Examiners for 15 years as retained general counsel prior to the Board employing staff counsel, and has represented professionals before their respective professional licensing boards. Over the past 19 years, Ms. Stanford has represented state agencies, licensees, and other litigants in administrative proceedings, state court litigation matters, and in judicial review of administrative decisions through the appellate courts.
