Tobacco Strategies
Bailey & Dixon’s noted tobacco strategies practice helps non-participating manufacturers (NPMs) compete against the major tobacco companies in the high stakes political and legislative environment in which the industry now operates. The major tobacco companies have legions of lobbyists working for them on the political playing field, while NPMs are left with little—if any—voice. That’s where we can help.
If the major tobacco companies have their way, higher priced tobacco products, fewer distributors and retailers of tobacco products, possibly lower margins on tobacco products for distributors and retailers, fewer consumer choices, and angry consumers will likely be the result. Most importantly, NPMs will go out of business.
We have the substantive knowledge and legal acumen to:
- Develop business strategies for handling state escrow compliance;
- Manage the state regulatory process;
- Handle branding, transactional, and litigation issues;
- Advise and document finance, sales, licensing, distribution and manufacturing agreements;
- Develop policy options and legislative alternatives; and
- Represent NPMs in legislative, litigation and regulatory arenas.
